Going Natural

Dietary supplements – a family of ingredients that may include vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, and metabolites. Supplements come in different varieties - extracts, concentrates, tablets, capsules, gel caps, liquids, and powders. Labeling requirements issued by the government are clear. They are considered as food and not drugs.

Migraine cures

These natural methods are numerous. Since a significant number of people have reported feeling better after making the switch to natural, non-drug therapies, they are certainly worth trying. The good thing about it is if one natural method does not work, another one will. There’s a “supermarket” variety that’s readily available and perfectly safe.

Treatment for Moderate to Severe Migraines

There are what medical experts call “abortive medications” that

are migraine-specific. These are different from over-the-counter

drugs. Instead of relieving pain, they actually abort the migraine by

battling the cause of the headache; that is, the dilation of the temporal

arteries. What they do is they actually narrow the arteries.

Examples of abortive medications are triptans and ergot

preparations.....

Headaches & Migraines

. Individual Factors
Hormones
The hormones that some women take may be the culprits behind
headaches and migraines. We mentioned earlier that migraines
usually begin around the age of puberty and then taper off during the
menopausal phase that women go through.
The menstrual period can trigger migraines in some women, and
many women who normally don’t suffer from migraines report having
some kind of headache during their periods. In some cases, the drop
in estradiol during menstruation causes women to suddenly develop
migraines.18

Irregular Body Rhythm
Each individual comes equipped with a “biological clock” that
dictates eating, sleeping and waking events. When these events are
disrupted – like during jet lag – a headache or migraine may result.
Sleeping – individuals who are predisposed to migraines may
wake up in the morning with a headache. Anything that disrupts
normal sleeping patterns may cause headaches. For example,
some people notice that their migraines occur during weekends.
This can be attributed to sleeping at later hours during the
weekends, or when they are more relaxed (yes, migraines can
occur not only during periods of stress, but also during periods of
relaxation).
